Digital Piano

A digital piano is just as good a stage piano as a traditional piano. Electronic musical instruments make use of a piano amplifier when on stage, and may also use a sustain pedal or sequencer to improve stage performance. However, a digital piano should not be mistaken as simply an electronic keyword. When using a digital piano you will never get the exact quality of a traditional piano and those twinkling ivory keys, but you can appreciate the many advantages digital has over acoustic.

Digital pianos tend to be less expensive than traditional stage piano options and are designed to look very similar. These electronic musical instruments also have no strings so eliminate the need for tuning. They are also lightweight and so more portable than a traditional stage piano. Often they include additional instrument options as well that are programmable as accompaniment to the piano music.

A digital piano typically can incorporate MIDI and may have programmable features to assist with both learning the instrument and composing. Typically they will come with a headphone, and you can add a sustain pedal for added abilities and a sequencer if these are not already part of the original configuration of the digital piano. There is no need for an external microphone, which means you don’t have audio feedback issues and if you are concerned about amplification of sound on stage, digital pianos can be equipped with a piano amplifier to increase sound range output. Digital pianos are very flexible electronic musical instruments and can be used professionally.
