The few exempted vehicles include diesel, electric powered, hybrids, and gas powered vehicles weighing more than 14,000 pounds. Also exempted are motorcycles, trailers and vehicles less than 6 years old. However, if you drive Michigan or South Carolina you won’t be asked about any emissions testing.
